breakfast: scrambled eggs (2), cherry tomatoes, cubed eggplant, garlic, and cotija. picked up a giant vat of coffee on my way to work. had half a peanut butter sandwich, a banana, and a spinach salad for lunch.
dinner: sauteed portobello cap, sprouts, green onions, red onions, sprouts, and cotija in a pita.
i also walked all over creation and went for a run.
real food. every day.

first post
this blog is brought to you by the letter C, the number 7, and this pita sandwich.
lately, i've become disenchanted with what most people in the US (including me) consume as "food." most of it is heavily processed, full of chemicals and sugar, and of no nutritional value.
almost five months ago, my pickup truck was stolen, and i started riding my bike everywhere. shortly thereafter, i decided that if i was going to be working my ass off for two to three hours a day riding a bike, i might as well start eating more heathfully and lose some weight in the process. since that day, i've lost 30 pounds (and then gained 5. and then lost 2. so i've got a net loss of 27 pounds.), and i've discovered that real food can be accessible and tasty.
for the last 5 months, i've mainly lived of trader joe's prepared foods. these are (usually) healthy, but it's expensive and annoying to go to the store every day to get food, and i really should learn how to cook anyway. so today i cooked some veggies (eggplant, cherry tomatoes, and red onions) with olive oil, lemon, and garlic and tossed them in a whole grain pita with some cojita cheese. quick, tasty, filling, and CHEAP. i spent $11 at the grocery store and used less than a quarter of the ingredients i bought. incredible.
my new goal is to eat real food every day and learn to cook along the way. wish me luck.
caveat: i am not a chef. i am not a dietitian. eat at your own risk.
